NEW YORK - New York artist Sofia Maldonado is painting a 92-foot mural on plywood panels in BLANK SL8, a storefront at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, daily from 3:30 PM to 10:00 PM until January 26 on 8th Avenue and 41st Street. Once complete, the painted plywood panels will be installed on an outdoor construction fence on 42nd Street in late February 2010.
The colorful mural depicts NYC women from Maldonado's Puerto Rican - Cuban heritage. Flowing clouds of pastel colors provide the background for 12 foot tall images of women who are painted in an elaborate street-art style.
