GUIDELINES FOR APPLYING FOR CUBAN ARTISTS LIVING IN THE UNITED STATES OR ANOTHER COUNTRY


Cuban artists living outside Cuba and those of Cuban descent living in the United States are eligible to apply to CAF for cash grants that range from $5,000 to $7,000 US. Awards are given in four categories: visual, performance, literature and music.


Artists must demonstrate artistic ability and recognition and be able to document a career in the arts. The proposed project must show additional sources of actual and potential sources of funding.


CAF also supports a limited number of artists' residencies at the Vermont Studio Center. (www.vermontstudiocenter.org) Please indicate if you would like to be considered for this award.


Artists living in Cuba are supported through CAF's International Residency Program. For further information please refer to Bases Para Aplicar (Cuba).


Artists seeking support should submit the following information between January 1, and September 1 for consideration in the next grant review cycle. Decisions will be made by December 1. Grants are awarded annually.

Budget information (total project budget, other sources of support).

Visual artists - eight images and/or one sample video

Filmmakers – eight images and/or a film/video sample

Musicians – 2 music samples

Writers - a writing sample of project (25 pages minimum) in PDF format

Performers – a video sample file

Catalogs, clippings, or written documentation of work in journals, magazines, newspaper articles in JPG or PDF format

7 Two letters of recommendations by professional in your field. - RECOMMENDATION 1 and RECOMMENDATION 2
